Piazzale Michelangelo

piazzalemichel piazzalemichel2 (1)Here are two photos I snapped (with my iPhone) during a visit to Piazzale Michelangelo last week with friends that were in town. No matter how many times I watch the sun set from that perch above the city, I can’t help but be amazed by how beautiful Florence is. Or, how silly my husband is (peace sign photo above submitted as evidence).

Our lack of posting lately is due to working hard in preparation for visitors, hanging out with friends/family while they visit and then working hard again after the visit ends. July and August are looking to be a bit quieter…which is nice considering life is going to get very noisey come September.

Boboli in Bloom

boboliWe went for a walk through Boboli today. It was overcast and cool — exactly the weather you need when walking the long, steep hills in the park. The grass was freshly cut and flowers in bloom. Spring in Florence is so beautiful.

Tuesday was cold, but sunny, and we ventured out for a little lunch treat (Gustapanino) followed by relaxing in the sun in front of Palazzo Pitti. I can’t wait for the days when we can lounge out there without jackets and scarves! On the way back home we decided to use our 2012 Amici Degli Uffizi cards for the first time and walked back to the apartment through Boboli Gardens. It was so empty and peaceful.
